Praise all round!

We get so much glowing feedback from our many and varied clients but in busy times it’s not always easy to keep up with it, let alone share it! As I sat down to write this morning I resolved to share a little of what has been said about our performers and events over the last week.

The City of Joondalup ran an Art of Ageing Program this month and one of our stunning violinists, Ashley Arbuckle was joined by Daniel Price, who is also the son of Richard Price, Ashley’s “Arco” duo partner. The feedback from the participants was beautiful to read. Here are some of the comments:

“The music took you on a journey without a passport.”
“Well thought out, well organised and a joy to have participated in.”
“Absolutely loved the music. Would love if in the future there were opportunities for seniors to learn instruments or singing.”

Last week, Brad Hogg conducted his Cricket Clinic at one of the WA Mine Sites. The feedback from the event was wonderful – he clearly made a huge impact on the residents.

“Brad’s visit was great – well received and enjoyed by everyone. Brad is awesome and seems very comfortable in the public eye, talking and meeting lots of people. He has so many great cricket stories and is very open about his experiences in his journey through life.

Brad was more than happy to do anything that was asked of him. We had an impromptu game of indoor cricket, followed with a session of bowling. The residents were able to test their batting skills against Brad’s bowling by trying to hit him for six runs. The guys and girls loved it and of course not many of them were successful in even connecting with one of his bowls.

He then sat around with about 20 residents and answered any questions and told some great yarns which had them all glued to their seats. Brad brought his Baggy Green and Australia Test Jacket which residents were able to wear and take photos. Brad also signed anything the residents requested and even sent videos home to residents children. Great guy J really happy with his visit!!

Thanks for your help in arranging his visit to site. We would welcome him up here again anytime.”

Chinese New Year and more…

Another huge week as the Perth International Arts Festival ramps up and Fringe World Festival winds down after three exhilarating weeks. This week, we have had the beautiful Chinese Stilt-Dancers and Lion Dancers perform at QV1 for Chinese New Year, always the most stunning sight. The wonderful Michelle Smith – Jazz Harpist performed at the Curtin University Wellness Expo, alongside Brendan Coleman and Beth Sheldon’s juggling performance and workshop, focussing on ‘mind and body.’ Speedway Australia were treated to the suave and smooth sounds of Anderson, solo dinger and guitarist. Mine sites in WA will be twitching when visited by the stunning Perth Samba Social Club and Brag Hogg will be out for the Cricket Clinic this coming Monday. On a sadder note, our thoughts are with everyone in QLD trying to stay safe in the wake of Cyclone Marcia. Unfortunately, the wonderful Lights of Berlin and the Oils, Angels and Divinyls tribute band had to be cancelled from performing at the QLD mine site due to the weather. We hope all are safe and look forward to rescheduling these terrific performers soon.

The world can be a cynical place but this last week was guaranteed to restore love to the hardest of hearts! The wonderful festivities at Fringe Festival, the Opening of Perth Festival with the breathtaking and wondrous Giants wending their way through the city and the upcoming Chinese New Year festivities…so much going on and Perth is alive!!!

Some of the performers out and about this last week and this weekend are – the quirky 1950’s roller waitresses who handed out cupcakes to vendors for the new branding of QV1 on Thursday; Mickey Shaked was also at QV1 yesterday to entertain the vendors and customers in anticipation of the weekend to come; last night Flame trio entertained at Curtin Uni for the opening of their outdoor cinema (Valentines themed), Explosive Dance are adding to the french theme for Satterley’s community movie event of ‘Chocolat’ in Harrisdale and we have some Chinese Lion Dancers heading up north to bring an essence of Chinese New Year to the mines.

Behind the scenes, we’re so excited by the progress of Big Sky Events, under the masterful touch of the gorgeous Natasha Birch. Make sure you have a look at our brand new Facebook page – Big Sky Entertainment – Events!

The last two weeks have been delightful and very busy – in equal measures! It’s such a gorgeous time of year in Perth, taking in the wonders of Fringe World and awaiting the Perth International Arts Festival – it really is the best time to be here and Perth has no disappointed. So many of our wonderful Big Sky performers have performed over the last few weeks, it’s been difficult keeping track of them all!
The suave Earl Cole turned up at Perugino Restaurant to surprise a lovely lady turning 60 with a rendition of “Happy Birthday” and a couple of other songs to make her day special.
The exquisite and talented cellist Sarah McCulloch performed for Curtin Uni’s School of Occupational Therapy Prize Giving Event during their cocktails reception.
We also had Federico help create an Amalfi Coast themed Hen’s party with his wonderful classical guitar and Italian songs.
Hanlon Brothers from Qld were invited once again to perform at one of the mine sites we service as their 6 piece this time for Waitangi Day celebrations.
Not only that, one of our directors, Rebecca starts rehearsals today for Black Swan State Theatre Company’s next show – “Dinner” which opens on the 18th March at the State Theatre Centre, check out
… and Caitlin our marketing and admin whiz is also madly rehearsing for the Fringe Festival Show ‘The King and Me’ with Dave Warner playing 17th to 22nd Feb. See link…/5b43d33a-f10a-42a9-9466-69…/
We are still madly working away in the office though, nothing like keeping busy!!!
