Way to beat the winter chill…

This has been a week of such an eclectic mix of events and a magical mix of artists performing at them. The brilliantly costumed Swagman and Bushranger roving stilts duo performed at Curtin University this week, as did the wonderful Olman Walley I wrote about yesterday. The stunning Jessi Crane Stilts performed at the Carousel Shopping Centre Food Festival on Friday – again, costumes that have to be seen to be believed! Our very own, multi-talented Michelle Fornasier had her Opening Night in Black Swan State Theatre Company’s production of Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit and take it from me, she is hilarious! As always, the Opening Night was a gorgeous affair and the wonderful Sarah Ramsay Trio complimented the evening beautifully with their fresh jazz repertoire.
The Michelle Smith Jazz Harp Trio are performing at a private event this week and are sure to delight our clients with their range of latin, blues, jazz and cocktail music – a heady mix!
And the incredible Box Party 6 piece band are heading to the mines this week, fronted by husband a wife duo from Aviida who are continuing to take Australia by storm on The Voice – more on this powerhouse duo later!

What’s up in July

It seems incredible that we’re well into the second half of 2015 but my calendar doesn’t lie and here we are! We’ve had many exciting events this week and it’s been terrific to provide these events with the talents of our Big Sky performers. Just a tiny taste of what was on this week and what’s coming this weekend…the incredible Justin Burford is performing at an exclusive corporate event this weekend, Retrofit, that indefatigable trio are performing for a 40th birthday party. LA Gold will no doubt be raising the roof at a WA Mine site and over in frosty QLD (never thought I’d write those two words in the same sentence!) a mine site will be kicking back to the sounds of Bevan Spiers and his stunning solo guitar.

NAIDOC Week and more

July 12th, 2015
Posted in Corporate, Corporate Function, Mine site, NAIDOC Week

I write this at the tail end of what has been a wonderful week of celebration and commemoration. NAIDOC Week has seen many extraordinary indigenous musicians, artists, chefs and sportsmen performing across the country and it’s been a honour for Big Sky to be involved. We have also had the wonderful Allysha Cleemans duo and Michelle Smith Harpist performing at a McDonald’s VIP function last Monday night and tonight will see the talented accordionist Eddie Staszak perform for a private event. On Tuesday, Olman Walley, son of Richard Walley performed at a WA Mine site VIP function- an accomplished musician and speaker. Clayton Donovan, an indigenous chef from QLD joined the mines to give a wonderful food demonstration and tasting on Friday and Saturday joined by Danny Marr, a member of Fitzroy Xpress band from Fitzroy Crossing.
On Saturday David Wirrpanda ran a footy clinic at the mine site and Troy Cook, also of band Fitzroy Xpress joined him. It’s been a memorable week for all.

Sequins and sparkles…

There was possibly no more colourful place to be than Curtin University this week – the line-up of acts performing there was a riotous display of sparkle, sequins and spots! Sailor Cirque Gals kicked off the week, followed by the dazzling Roller Waitresses, Disco Divas, Pierrette and Columbina and topped off by the delicious Lipstick and Lolly – the pictures below tell the tale better than I can!
At corporate events this weekend Mario the (Almost) Magnificent is guaranteed to bring laughter and disbelief to the faces of all with his up-close roving magic. Michael Elezovich is performing as the Mad Hatter – accompanied by the gorgeously terrifying Queen of Hearts and the Absolute Kylie Show will have all this lucky enough to see it mesmerised by the best Kylie tribute act in the business.
Entertainment for the Mine Sites this weekend is being fronted by some of the most diverse performers around. The talented and gorgeous Luella Widt and Shayne Crump are performing this weekend as is The American Classics with their inimitable classic style. The beginning of NAIDOC Week is being observed by the extraordinary Ngadju Dancers – and we look forward to bringing you more details of how this important week of commemoration is being celebrated in WA.
The Goldfields KidsFest is on this weekend, with a veritable smorgasbord of activities and entertainment, including Johnny Rollins – worth a trip just for that! See the link below to peruse the program.Goldfields KidsFest
