Wild Weather and Wild Performances

It really wouldn’t be Perth without weather that keeps us all on our toes now wouldn’t it? But that’s got to be one of the reasons we all love it here… right?

Hoping that everyone has stayed cool when it’s been hot and dry when it’s been wet, we also hope you’ve been out and about amongst all the great events that have been on around Perth featuring some great performances!

New Years Eve we had Robbie T, Ric Stern, Matthew Jonath, Mario Magnificent and Viva Mexico for all the corporate holiday parties, and Katherine John & Dancers.
Up north the hard workers were treated to an amazing performance by Boy and Bear on NYE, which would have been absolutely fantastic!

On Australia Day we don’t know what would have been hotter, the weather or the performances that happened around WA!
Bubble Bikes, Explosive Dance show and 2 pierotte stilt walkers took on the Australia Day party down in Bunbury, whilst Amanda Canzurlo and James Morley jammed out at a wedding, whilst Retrofit and Wildflower Trio did their thing at some other private events and of course some great perfomances from entertainment such as Afterglo, Desert Bells, Mike Goldstein and Tim Beckett (comedians) and The Bar Ends Duo up north.

We’ve also had some great new acts added to our books that you definitely need to keep an eye on!
LA Women, The Fit Swimmers, Jeremias Sosa, Vulture Street, WAYJO, Soul Machine, Lolly Pop Lyra and many more!!

We’ve got a real SPRING in our step!

Yesterday when I woke up, I noticed that I had a real SPRING in my step… Yes that’s right, Spring is here and I just made a dad joke.. It’s not even Fathers day yet either..

Dad jokes aside, we had a great week leading into this fabulous season..
During the week we had Big T play at the opening of a new basketball court in the Shire of Ashburton and his performance was raved about after!
On Wednesday, Black Swan Theatre Company had the opening of “Clinton The Musical” where one of our great trios, Box Party preformed at the pre AND post show events! The testimonials that came through after were fantastic!
Big T’s and Box Party’s reviews will be on their Big Sky profiles, we high recommend checking them out.

Zatanna, The Queen of Illusion brought some magic to Cinefest OZ & Lights of Berlin, took their lights up north!
The first weekend of Spring is looking just as good as the week leading into it with acts such as Matt Swift bringing his magic to a private event, Big T is heading up north whilst we have Chill Divine and Ali Bodycoat handling the corporate events!

If you happened to have caught or know you’ll catch any of these acts whilst they were out and about this week or over the weekend, we hope you enjoyed them and if you were interested in having them for one of your events (mining, corporate or private) feel free to call us on 9388 6762 or send us an enquiry through our website www.bigskyentertainment.com.au! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend and we will check back in with you next week!

3 weeks until Spring

As the days start hitting 20 degrees (every now and then), we can start to see the sun at the end of this wintery tunnel! 3 weeks until Spring people, brace yourselves – soon it will be Summer again and we will be complaining about how much deodorant we are all going through and fan sales will be going through the roof!

In the mean time we have had some great entertainment out warming up some events around Perth and up north!

Around our city we have had some entertainment such as Aviida perform at Galleria, our Latin Dance troupe performed a Brazilian Samba Dance for an Olympic themed corporate event, Matt Swift put a little bit of magic into a private event and Mark Pascoe MC’d at the Western Australian Karaoke Championships (how did I not know about this and where can I sign up for the next one?).

Moving our way up north we also had some entertainment such as DoughBoy Funk DJing and MCing for an event and Bump n Grind getting everyone bumping and grinding!

One week into August

I don’t want to alarm anyone, but we are officially one week into August! But no need to feel sad because it’s FRIDAY!

It’s weeks like this week that make us understand why the year has just flown by, and there is no denying that this year has disappeared considering we are four months away from 2017! But we’re also getting closer to the getting back into the warmth, glass half full right?

We have had some great performers work their magic at some fun corporate events this week! Performers such as Valerio, Chris and Courtney Murphy, Ali Bodycoat Trio, Aambiance Duo, our talented henna tattoo artist and our fabulous Bollywood Belly Dancers!

Matt Swift got to wow the little audience at a children’s birthday party and up north we had some acts perform such as Blue Beats and Box Party.

This weekend is also the annual Nameless Festival in Tom Price and we have had the pleasure of sending up some great entertainment such as DJ Sarah from Komodo Music and Samwise The Beatboxer who will be doing some fantastic beatboxing and vocal loop workshops for kids of all ages, helping them come out of their shells and to feel empowered to take creative risks! If you want more information on this festival head to their event website – http://namelessfestival.wixsite.com/2016.

WINTER IS HERE BUT HOPEFULLY NOT TOO STAY

Well it’s official – Winter is here and has settled. It’s raining in the morning and very cold at night and of course that’s just going to make you want to stay in bed, resulting in you missing out on some great entertainment – BUT YOU MUST PERSEVERE, YOU MUST NOT GIVE INTO THE WINTER BLUES OTHERWISE YOU MAY MISS OUT ON SOME AMAZING BLUES (MUSIC)!

Although this is a quiet week for us here at Big Sky (everyone recovering from WA Day long weekend), we do believe this is the calm before the storm, with a few weeks coming up that are absolutely jam packed! It seems as if everyone is getting ready to celebrate End of the Financial Year, well the ones who are in the good books with the taxman will be celebrating!

And of course we have some great new entertainment on our books this week, Velvet Amps being one of them – Perth’s first all female cover band who is made up of some of our absolute favourite female artists. Made up of 5 – 6 sassy chicks, Velvet Amps are perfect for weddings, birthdays, corporate and even your mining events! A must to check out!

But like I said – quiet week this week, so a quiet post for you all! Remember to stay warm everyone and we hope to see you enjoying our performers at our events around the city!

Jumping for June!

I don’t mean to alarm anyone here, but do you all know that it’s already June! Winter is here and 2017 is nearing. I am very envious of the people who are finding that this year is going slow because this year is going so fast for us here at Big Sky we’re starting to get dizzy!

It’s been a great (almost) half of the year though! We’ve had some great talent perform at some fantastic events and our books are just growing with more amazing artists from all over WA and even Australia! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out some of our new entertainment including Orquesta Yambeque, Bump ‘N’ Grind, For The Roses, The Adele and Amy Songbook, Dove & The Flockers, Just4Kix, Bravo Singing Waiters and so many more! The choices we now have are absolutely endless – there’s really nothing that we can’t offer to help you make your next event unforgettable!

Speaking of unforgettable events – what events have you attended this year where you’ve seen our entertainment?
I’m sure most of you will see a handful of our fantastic performers such as Andrew Winton, Electrochic, Cameo Rascale and Nat Ripepi as we all celebrate WA Day!

We’ve also been super busy with our new project – Shakespeare 400 Festival! If you haven’t checked that out already, make sure you do! We’ve got so much going on throughout the year for the worldwide celebration that we can assure you there will be something even the un shakespeare lover will enjoy!

If you happened to have caught any of our acts whilst they were out and about this week or over the weekend, we hope you enjoyed them and if you were interested in having them for one of your events (mining, corporate or private) feel free to call us on 9388 6762 or send us an enquiry through our website www.bigskyentertainment.com.au! MAY-hem!

I swear it was only April yesterday, until I looked at my calendar and we seem to be well into May – I can smell christmas in the air and it’s scary! 2016 is moving too fast for my slow little feet – how about you guys?

I’ve said it before and I will say it again – time flies when you’re having fun, or when you’re just too busy to look at the date most days!

We’ve been having some real fun here at Big Sky over the past month, with Gala Events and Mine Sites, Corporate Functions and Private Parties!
It’s amazing where we just happen to pop up these days – don’t be surprised if you’ve ran into on of our fantastic performers in the past month!

I don’t know if you’ve heard but we are actually the brains behind the Shakespeare 400 Festival that is taking place in Perth right now – it’s why were all running around like a chook without a head, make sure you go check it out (https://www.facebook.com/shakespeare400festival/). This year is a big year for Shakespeare as it’s the 400th anniversary of his birth AND death so we are doing wonders around Perth to celebrate this!

Other than that, of course our usual entertainment entertaining!
We hope everyone else has had a good week / weekend!

MARCHING INTO MARCH

I don’t know about you guys but we and our performers have really marched our way into March!!

Famous Sharron laughed up a storm with the City of Fremantle and the hard working students at Murdoch, whilst Reilly Craig serenaded the harding working students at Curtain and our favourites in the corporate collective.
Curtain Uni has also had some real fun watching the gorgeous Hulalula Ladies do their Halalula things, Guerrilla Granny speed around and also got serenaded by Michelle Smiths amazing jazz harp – the only one in Australia might we add!
A private event was blown Little Belles talents and C’est La Vie also be wowed the crowd at their weekend event!
International Womens Day has just past us (shout out to all of our beautiful ladies on our books!), and we had our gorgeous Amanda Canzurlo steal the crowd at the Women of the Year Awards Show – they may have had to do a re vote after they heard her sing!
Mario the (Almost) Magnificent wowed his audience once again at the City of Stirling and Ella E sung up a storm at Varsity Bar whilst Electrochic were doing the exact same at Qv1.

What an absolute month this has been! What an absolute year this has been already! We could feel 2016 was going to be a good one – hoping the same for you!
Keep following our Facebook and our blog to keep up to date with what our acts are doing and keep checking back to our website to see our new acts that are added every week!

THE END OF FEBRUARY

Here we are, at the end of February! How did we get here so fast, where did the time go?
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – time flies when you’re having a whole load of time and I can confidently say that our clients have been having a whole load of fun!

The hard workers of our mining sector have been enjoying Phoenix King and Ben Merito, whilst the hard workers of the corporate world have been having just as much fun with artists such as Box Party and one of our new beautiful talents Holli Scott, as well as Little Bird and the classic Anderson. The talented cellist, Laura McFadden eased everyone back into school at Curtain last week and this week they would have had some real fun with Slam Dunk Clowns, Flurotrash and Professor & Student on stilts! Curtain really know how to make studying that little bit easier, don’t ya think?

Of course our private clients have been having a blast too – entertainment such as Michael Elezovich and the gorgeous Cathrine Summers.

What are you all doing tonight? Are any of you heading to Bather’s Beach in Fremantle to see the wonderful Missy Higgins play? Well if you are – you’ll see one of our amazing young talents Ella E supporting her! How fantastic is that!

I don’t know about you but I’m ready to start marching into March! If it’s anything like February I know we’re going to have a good time!
I hope you all have a great weekend and I’ll catch you again soon!

Big love from Big Sky Entertainment!

It’s beginning to look a lot like…our busiest time of the year!

It’s our busiest time of year, so busy we haven’t had a chance to champion all the terrific performers we’ve had performing over the last week…until now!
There have been corporate events galore in the lead up to Christmas and this is just a smattering of the talented artists who have performed. Acoustica, Xmas Wishes, Gabriella’s Vibe, Amanda Canzurlo Trio, Lachy Reid MC, The Anatomically Incorrect Gentlemen, Matt Swift (Magician), The Mill Point Quartet, Toy Soldiers Stilts (Toodyay Chamber of Commerce Xmas Event) and Chris Franklin (comedian).
At Curtin Uni the Lipstick Rollers, Michelle Smith Harpist and Glenn Rogers (guitarist) performed.
It’s also the season for weddings and parties and Robbie T performed as did the Ambrosia Trio – twice!
The Mines sites rocked to 90’s grunge with the Nahvana tribute show fronted by Justin Burford, who also played a solo gig. More very soon, now that this week is almost over too!
