It’s beginning to look a lot like…our busiest time of the year!

It’s our busiest time of year, so busy we haven’t had a chance to champion all the terrific performers we’ve had performing over the last week…until now!
There have been corporate events galore in the lead up to Christmas and this is just a smattering of the talented artists who have performed. Acoustica, Xmas Wishes, Gabriella’s Vibe, Amanda Canzurlo Trio, Lachy Reid MC, The Anatomically Incorrect Gentlemen, Matt Swift (Magician), The Mill Point Quartet, Toy Soldiers Stilts (Toodyay Chamber of Commerce Xmas Event) and Chris Franklin (comedian).
At Curtin Uni the Lipstick Rollers, Michelle Smith Harpist and Glenn Rogers (guitarist) performed.
It’s also the season for weddings and parties and Robbie T performed as did the Ambrosia Trio – twice!
The Mines sites rocked to 90’s grunge with the Nahvana tribute show fronted by Justin Burford, who also played a solo gig. More very soon, now that this week is almost over too!

The Heat Is On!

It’s not just the weather heating up, with another huge week here at Big Sky already behind us and an equally huge weekend ahead.
It was the valley of the giants at Curtin University this week with the lovely Lolly and Candy Stilts performing on Tuesday and Stop and Silly Stilts performing later in the week. In Corporate Events this week Fliptease Circus and the Mermaids performed as did Hammer 9, fronted by the wonderful Libby Hammer and the Latin Music Trio.
Jay Weston performed a surprise Happy Birthday song for a very lucky lady and in other private events Michelle Smith, jazz harpist and The Sirens performed.
This weekend is going to be smoking! WA Mine Sites will host duo Nothing Too Serious and Sweet Sister Band. QLD Mine Sites will host the Acoustic Joose Duo, Whacky Wise Guys Trio and the Abby Skye Duo. Callan Durlik is performing at a corporate event and there are some very lucky private events being entertained by the likes of Fifi Fontaine from Sugar Blue Burlesque, the Amy Winehouse show from O Entertainment and ZAP Circus.

There are so many exciting things happening in the Big Sky office at the moment that it has taken this long to sit down and write about the wonderful artists who performed around the state last week.
Curtin Uni is fast becoming my pick of places to be – whether or not you study there! Stuck for somewhere to go for lunch? If you’re close to Curtin, I’d pop in there!
On Tuesday the beautifully be-winged butterfly stilts roved the crowds as part of Spring Day.
On Wednesday the stunning powerhouse that is Libby Hammer performed with her Trio at The Pines, truly one of WA’s best jazz vocalists.
On Thursday, the incredible classical guitarist, Federico Chianucci, performed his beautiful arrangements of folk, country, classical and jazz.
The WA Mine Site played host to the gorgeous Dove Duo last weekend and The Natalia Trio performed at the Pride of Australia medal event.
So much more I could talk about but with this week now half over I’l leave this as just a little sample of the past week’s delights!

Looking suspiciously but gloriously like the little Desi Turtle from last week, Curtin Uni was graced with the eye-poppingly vibrant Daffy Dill this week. She was joined by the hilarious Famous Sharron, the incredible roving feats of Ricochet Circus, the sultry sounds of Electrochic, Libby Hammer and her Pirate Stilts, more smooth sounds from the Little Bird Duo and Daffy Silly Dilly’s – more stilts with a floral theme!
In the corporate sector, Explosive Dance performed their wonderful Cheerleader routines and Matthew Hale, Comedy Hypnotist extraordinaire worked his magic at the Beverley Men’s Group.
At the WA Mine Sites this weekend, the wonderful Greg McNeill, one of WA’s most talented and loved actors, is hosting an Open Mic Night and will be joined by the incredible band Afrotropik fronted by the stunning Grace Barbe.

Curtin Uni have again played host to some wonderful and vibrant performers – this time as part of Science Week. The Mad Scientist and Desi Turtle roved the student cohort on Tuesday. Wednesday saw the inimitable Chris Murphy perform solo, joined by the multi-talented Libby Hammer with her Tuxedo Stilt act!
More stilts at Curtin on Thursday with the futuristic Robot Stilts whilst the weekend brought joy to the corporate world. The wonderfully talented Reilly Craig performed at what looks to be the next sweet craze – Yoghurt-land! Kinetica wowed a corporate event with their giant bubble ball act, hand balancing and contortion act.
The WA Mines were not to be outdone, hosting Alvin Jiang, Table Tennis Champion on Monday, the gorgeous Geisha Stilts and Chinese Stilts on Thursday for Oriental Night and have wound up their weekend with the stunning Crucial Rockers Band on Saturday and Sunday. What football??!!

Phew! Better late than never…

It was such a busy week last week and the weekend ran away with me as well so huge apologies for this very late “hurrah” to all our wonderful performers who delighted so many people those last few days. Last Wednesday, the City of South Perth hosted the vibrant and wonderful 1950’s Roller Waitresses at their Pioneers and Elders Luncheon.
Purple Bra Day and Red Nose were both observed beautifully at a WA Mine site. Ruth Battle and her hula hoops and aerial performer Yvonne Jones both contributed their talents to Purple Bra Day and Red Nose Day was joined by the Little Belle Trio and Matthew Hale, comedy Hypnotist.
Facepainters, balloon twisters, suave and hilarious Mario the (Almost) Magnificent and Clare Stace as MC all aided a charity event for children with special needs.
Komodo Music D and incredible ice carver, Flint Edwards performed for a high school ball and those stunning Bollywood dancers performed for a 40th Birthday.
The indefatigable Beth Sheldon and Libby Hammer were an all singing, double bass and banjo playing, lasso-tricking roving duo of pure Wild West spirit at a western themed birthday party – talk about raising the roof!
Enjoy your week, one and all!

A busy week and some new delights from Libby Hammer…

A very late post from us this week but we have been busy not only with our stunning performers plying their trade this week but also with introducing new acts on the website – always exciting! Amongst the wonderful performers we’ve had working this week has been the sidesplittingly funny Chris Franklin who had them rolling in the aisles up at a Pilbara mine site this weekend and the inimitable Murphy’s Lore performed at another mine site in WA. I’d like to draw attention this week to the incredible Libby Hammer – her Hip Mo’ Toast Big Band and the Hammer Nine are now both live on the site as well as a cheeky little duo for hers, The Anatomically Incorrect Gentlemen, with a lovely young performer who looks suspiciously like Jessie Gordon – this lady is indomitable. Check out these pictures to see just the breadth of Libby’s talent!
