Jumping for June!

I don’t mean to alarm anyone here, but do you all know that it’s already June! Winter is here and 2017 is nearing. I am very envious of the people who are finding that this year is going slow because this year is going so fast for us here at Big Sky we’re starting to get dizzy!

It’s been a great (almost) half of the year though! We’ve had some great talent perform at some fantastic events and our books are just growing with more amazing artists from all over WA and even Australia! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out some of our new entertainment including Orquesta Yambeque, Bump ‘N’ Grind, For The Roses, The Adele and Amy Songbook, Dove & The Flockers, Just4Kix, Bravo Singing Waiters and so many more! The choices we now have are absolutely endless – there’s really nothing that we can’t offer to help you make your next event unforgettable!

Speaking of unforgettable events – what events have you attended this year where you’ve seen our entertainment?
I’m sure most of you will see a handful of our fantastic performers such as Andrew Winton, Electrochic, Cameo Rascale and Nat Ripepi as we all celebrate WA Day!

We’ve also been super busy with our new project – Shakespeare 400 Festival! If you haven’t checked that out already, make sure you do! We’ve got so much going on throughout the year for the worldwide celebration that we can assure you there will be something even the un shakespeare lover will enjoy!

If you happened to have caught any of our acts whilst they were out and about this week or over the weekend, we hope you enjoyed them and if you were interested in having them for one of your events (mining, corporate or private) feel free to call us on 9388 6762 or send us an enquiry through our website! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend and we will check back in with you next week!

Looking suspiciously but gloriously like the little Desi Turtle from last week, Curtin Uni was graced with the eye-poppingly vibrant Daffy Dill this week. She was joined by the hilarious Famous Sharron, the incredible roving feats of Ricochet Circus, the sultry sounds of Electrochic, Libby Hammer and her Pirate Stilts, more smooth sounds from the Little Bird Duo and Daffy Silly Dilly’s – more stilts with a floral theme!
In the corporate sector, Explosive Dance performed their wonderful Cheerleader routines and Matthew Hale, Comedy Hypnotist extraordinaire worked his magic at the Beverley Men’s Group.
At the WA Mine Sites this weekend, the wonderful Greg McNeill, one of WA’s most talented and loved actors, is hosting an Open Mic Night and will be joined by the incredible band Afrotropik fronted by the stunning Grace Barbe.

Phew! Better late than never…

It was such a busy week last week and the weekend ran away with me as well so huge apologies for this very late “hurrah” to all our wonderful performers who delighted so many people those last few days. Last Wednesday, the City of South Perth hosted the vibrant and wonderful 1950’s Roller Waitresses at their Pioneers and Elders Luncheon.
Purple Bra Day and Red Nose were both observed beautifully at a WA Mine site. Ruth Battle and her hula hoops and aerial performer Yvonne Jones both contributed their talents to Purple Bra Day and Red Nose Day was joined by the Little Belle Trio and Matthew Hale, comedy Hypnotist.
Facepainters, balloon twisters, suave and hilarious Mario the (Almost) Magnificent and Clare Stace as MC all aided a charity event for children with special needs.
Komodo Music D and incredible ice carver, Flint Edwards performed for a high school ball and those stunning Bollywood dancers performed for a 40th Birthday.
The indefatigable Beth Sheldon and Libby Hammer were an all singing, double bass and banjo playing, lasso-tricking roving duo of pure Wild West spirit at a western themed birthday party – talk about raising the roof!
Enjoy your week, one and all!

Rio Tinto Picnic Days at Tom Price and Paraburdoo – a community event being treated to the inimitable Murphy’s Lore and the riotously coloured Button and Stitch form Sensational Stilt-walking. The Rock Mobsters are on their way to the WA Mine sites, prepared to rock the house Saturday night and rule the house Sunday with their own brand of Rock Quiz on Sunday. It has been a wonderful week in the lead up to a very moving weekend, commemorating 100 years since the landing at Gallipoli. In corporate events this last week, Big Sky was proud to provide entertainment of such calibre as Strung Out, the incredible string ensemble. They received wonderful praise indeed…“They were fantastic and so well received – everyone was talking about hem, including the caterer and we will be sure to recommend them for future events.”
Curtin University saw out the week in fine style with the likes of Kinetica, rocking trio Double Agent and soloist Reilly Craig adding a welcome vibrancy to the campus. And Wanneroo Senior College had nothing but high praise for those Bard battlers, Shakespeare Shenanigans. “It was great! We had about 100 kids there from Yrs 7 to 12 and they were enthralled! It was a fabulous experience for our kids.” – John Foreman, Drama Teacher.
WA Mine Sites were in for a treat this weekend with sensational comedy Hypnotist Matthew Hale heading up, alongside Adam Hall and the Velvet Playboys for the ANZAC Celebrations and Scott Ferguson playing the trumpet for the haunting Last Post.
A wonderful free public event in the city included the likes of the Cottontail Trio and the Supper Club Band as well as the dazzling Darling Buds of May, a fitting tribute to a seminal point in our history.

Not that you would guess it from the ferocious storms we’ve had today but that hasn’t stopped Matthew Hale selling out Rigby’s Bar tonight with his gobsmacking Comedy Hypnotist show. Amongst the other performers we have strutting their wonderful wares over the weekend are Carribean Soul at Wheatstone, Fluro Trash and Sensational Stilts delighting crowds at the Perth City to Surf Event and Jean Luc mystifying a lucky birthday party.

We couldn’t resist sharing the stunning images of Kinetica earlier this month, taken at the Petroleum Club of WA’s Annual Gala Event…truly stunning.

See you in Spring!
