One of Perth's finest jazz vocalists, Penny King, Has been performing with her band since graduating from the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 1996. Well known for her engaging stage presence, Penny moves effortlessly between jazz and contemporary repertoire, always adding her own touch to well loved standards and beyond.

Penny feels privileged to create music with some of the leading lights in Australian jazz, including Tom O'Halloran, Carl Mackey, Graham Wood, Pete Jeavons and many more. In late 2013, Penny's long-awaited debut album with her quintet, "Journey", was launched at the Ellington Jazz Club, earning her a nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Album at the 2014 Bell Awards and sparking interest from all over the world, including the epicentre of Jazz, New York City.

Penny regularly plays sell out shows at The Ellington Jazz Club and has appeared at numerous festivals, including the inaugural Perth International Jazz Festival in 2013. She has also appeared at Rottnest's "Jazz on the Rock Festival", the York Jazz Festival, The Beaufort Street Festival, Fremantle International Jazz Festival and The Bay festival, Dunsborough.

She has been a featured vocalist with West Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra, through which she has had opportunities to sing alongside such luminaries as James Morrison and Dale Barlow. Penny has made numerous appearances at the Perth Jazz Society and Jazz Festival. She is also a member of "The Mistletoes", an a capella quartet led by Libby Hammer and specialising in jazz and doo-wop Christmas Carols. A testament to her place in the thriving local scene, Penny is a vocal tutor in the esteemed jazz department at WAAPA.

Penny works in a variety of settings, from intimate duo with piano or guitar, right through to the full quintet, making her music the perfect accompaniment for every venue, function or occasion.
