The Merindas - Australia's Premier Soul Duo

The Merindas - Australia's Premier Soul Duo

The Merindas are based in Perth WA and are Australia’s Premier Soul Duo featuring award winning artists Candice Lorrae and Kristel Kickett. The name ‘Merinda’ comes from the Aboriginal Eora language - meaning beautiful woman and is a tribute to their Indigenous heritage.

There is far more to this very talented duo than just their name. Candice and Kristel are both amazing performers whose stars are on the rise as they send ripples across the Australian Indigenous Music Scene.

The Merindas caught their big break in 2012 delivering a one off show for the premiere of the ‘The Sapphires’ Movie. They sold out their first band show three months later and have been in high demand since.

In 2013 the group was nominated for a Sydney Deadly award in the category of 'Most Promising New Talent In Music'. They have supported some of Australia's biggest stars including Jessica Mauboy, Nathaniel, Kasey Donovan, Christine Anu, Troy Cassar-Daley and American Grammy Award Winning Artist, Brandy.

The Merindas most recent highlights have been their performance in Singapore, opening for the Aussie BBQ as part of the Music Matters Live Festival and performing live across the nation on NITV’s Marngrook Footy Show Grand Final in Melbourne.

The Merindas are a powerhouse of talent and entertainment. Building on their already expanding fan base the group just released their new single titled ‘We Sing Until Sunrise’.

“WOW they are fabulous. We book them for ourAnnualFundraising Dinnereveryyear and we are always thrilled. We receive excellent feedback from everyone who attended.” - David Wirrpanda Foundation

“The Merindas followed on quickly, the duo filling the tent with Motown soul under a deadly beat, including a rousing version of The Jackson 5's I Want You Back.” - State Of The Art Festival 2016

“The Merindas together with the Rhythm 22 band provide a great show of entertainment. Those that like the music of the sixties enjoy the costumes and fun that these performers provide. Inspired by the film ‘The Sapphires’ The Merindas complete with sequined costumes provide a stunning show that gets us older people out of the house and dancing. We can’t help but do it. You know there’s a party when The Merindas are on the bill. We at Noongar Radio recommend them to all people of all cultural backgrounds who like good music, great vocals and like to dance” – Wayne Bynder, Station Manager, 1009fm & Digital Noongar Radio.
