457 - The Ultimate World Jazz Banc

The Ultimate WORLD jazz band Bringing a fresh approach to Jazz classics and mixing rhythms from the Islands of the Indian Ocean and Martinique Island Throw in the infectious sounds of the band’s own originals and you have something unique.


Sarah Clare enjoys playing a large diversity of music genres and different ensembles. After completing her Bachelor of Music at UWA,  She received a scholarship to further her studies at the Sydney Conservatorium, completing the Post Graduate Diploma in performance.  Sarah then won the double bass position in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship and continued to work casually with the SSO, as well as the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.  She is now based in Perth and works casually with the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, Perth Symphony Orchestra and Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.  Sarah is double bassist/electric bassist with numerous jazz ensembles and original bands in Perth, also teaching the piano, double bass and electric bass and is the conductor of The Junior Western Australian Youth Strings.


Thierryno Gangou was born in Mauritius. He started piano at the age of 7. His experience is built over the years playing in different countries and numerous bands. He is now based in Perth and is the main composer and arranger of 457. His compositions could have been called "though my eyes" as he paints a portrait of the people around him or the way he sees and feel things throughout his music.


Vince Pavitt was born in Durban, South Africa. Vince took music lessons at school experimenting with bass guitar and piano and later a few lessons with Berklee College graduate Mike Mazzoni. Vince enjoys playing jazz adapting his style to incorporate all types of music especially some tasty African feels, which he applies comfortably. He became involved with American saxophonist Chris Mertz a student of the legendary Yusef Lateef and engaged in many jazz projects at the Natal University. Vince has done television and recording work and appears on many artists CD recordings.  Vince currently resides in Perth and has done some gigging in and around town. He still looks forward to a good gig and improving his knowledge and sharing in the art form  


Mike Collinson began playing clarinet at age 11 and picked up the saxophone at 15. He studied Jazz Performance at WAAPA and has performed in a variety of settings including Jazz small groups and Big Bands, Cocktail Bar Trios, Commercial Bands, and Brazilia n Jazz. As an accomplished improviser and reader, Mike has accompanied many touring acts including Marcia Hines, Grace Night, Glen Shorrock, Dale Barlow, Tom Burlinson, James Morrison, Rhonda Burchmore, and Tony Schilder.
