iSQ - CLASSICAL MEETS CONTEMPORARY AND UTTERLY UNIQUE

SMASHING THE WORLDS OF CLASSICAL AND CONTEMPORARY MUSIC TOGETHER

iSQ (i String Quartet) is a classically trained, finely tuned string quartet (with an added percussive twist!) that features some of Perth's most up and coming players - bound by a passion for performance. Purists beware however, any similarity to the standard quartets of old stops here. Whilst the talented members of iSQ have spent many years honing their skills playing Bach, Beethoven and Mozart, it is their interpretations of the greatest songs this side of the Millennia that has garnered praise.

iSQ, led by first violinist and arranger Rachael Aquilina and violist Bourby Webster, have set out to challenge common perceptions of what a night with a string quartet might look, sound and feel like. If you can't imagine what Daft Punk, Radiohead or Britney would sound like played by two violins, a viola and a cello...then do one step further and add one of Perth's most respected drummers, Malcolm Clark (The Sleepy Jackson, Bob Evans) and you'll start to get an idea of how extraordinary some of the best songs from the last 50 years can sound - re-imagined and re-arranged on instruments that have ruled popular music for the last 500 years.

Boasting completely original arrangements and reinterpretations of artists spanning from The Beatles to Gotye, from Metallica to Amy Winehouse, iSQ's repertoire is ever-expanding, offering up loved modern classics on classical instruments.

iSQ smash the worlds of Classical and Contemporary together in wonderfully unexpected ways, bringing out the rock in classical and the baroque in pop.
