MAMBO CHIC - GLOBAL POP GROOVES

MAMBO CHIC - GLOBAL POP GROOVES

Mambo Chic might be a Fremantle-based, 6 piece world/pop/groove band but they are about as international as you can get...

Featuring members from France (Geraldine Rey), Zimbabwe (Hogany Nyatsambo - former member of Shangara Jive), Cuba (Arvis Mena), Algeria (Djamel Aitchikh) and Australia (the well known and multi-talented Stu Orchard and John Bannister), the band plays its thrumming, spirited, groovy, infectious pop and reggae-soul on a predictably broad range of instruments, cue the mbira, hand percussion, brass horns, keys along with the killer tight traditional drums and bass driven rhythm section.

Singing in French, Shona and English, the band have been busily treading the boards of WA and and East coast venues, playing a broad range of clubs and festivals, setting feet tapping and hips swinging wherever their gypsy talents wander.

Their debut EP, Nyoka Musango, was launched in 2013 - a fitting introduction to Mambo Chic's esoteric mix of traditions and genres. Mambo Chic's immediacy, hip rhythms, super-tight playing and unforgetable melodies will grab and move you...whether you're shaking it on the dance floor or lazing on the couch.

Mambo Chic...Chic it out...
