Born in Kuala Lumpur, Brenda grew up in historical Malacca before relocating to Perth, Australia in her early teens. Her diverse heritage of eastern and western influence adds colour and depth to this performing artist’s radiance.
Trained as a jazz vocalist at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Brenda has travelled and performed in Sydney, Kuala Lumpur, New York and Canada.
Performing at corporate events, high-end venues, festivals and VIP celebrations, recent clients include IBM, the Black Swan Theatre Company, The Marquay, Samson’s Paddock and Kate Lamont’s Bishop’s House.
Brenda has also performed at the No Black Tie Jazz Club in Kuala Lumpur and has held long-term residencies in Perth’s established jazz and entertainment venues. Her classic jazz standards album was launched in 2010 at The Ellington Jazz Club, Perth. Between 2015 and 2016, Brenda has had 5 sold out concert shows at The Ellington Jazz Club, Jazz Fremantle and The Cheese Barrel in the Swan Valley.
Brenda Lee’s vocal character is deep with sultry tones, exuding an unquestionable trueness of essence in jazz improvisation. Her musical influences include Shirley Horne, Stan Getz, Joao Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim, George Benson, Tania Maria, Chet Baker and Miles Davies.
