Michelle Smith’s versatility with her 47 string harp has made her a unique performer, wowing audiences in Australia and USA with her original solo Harp performances. She is in constant demand, particularly for high profile events as a Jazz Harpist.
Michelle has received critical acclaim for her version of Jimi Hendrix ‘Red House’ and Mosdef ‘Mathematics.’ This had made a large footprint in the Hip Hop world for her, working alongside top producers from the UK and performing with Aria Award winners Karnivool and Nationally renowned Hip-Hop artist ‘Mathas.’
She has also performed with Ed Kuepper (The Bad Seeds), the prestigious World Harp Congress and has sold out concerts throughout Australia. She first received classical tuition in Western Australia, and has studied in Boston where she lived with and was mentored by Deborah Henson-Conant; A Grammy Award nominated Jazz Harpist and composer with worldwide recognition. She performed twice with Deborah in the US and attended rhythm classes at the Berklee College of Music.
Michelle will continue to be based in Perth whilst expanding Jazz Harp throughout the country.
