One of Western Australia’s leading vocalists, Penny has been a firm favourite of jazz audiences for over 20 years. Known for her engaging stage presence, and a sound ranging from rich swinging tones through to haunting and fragile melodies, she has been a regularly featured performer at the Perth International Jazz Festivals, and has also appeared at the Fairbridge Festival, Rottnest’s ‘Jazz on the Rock Festival’, the York Jazz Festival, the Beaufort St. Festival, Fremantle International Jazz Festival and the Jazz By The Bay Festival, Dunsborough.
In 2016, Penny travelled to Melbourne for a show at the Paris Cat Jazz Club. Working alongside Perth’s leading jazz musicians, Penny brings grace, refinement and signature sounds developed over years of music making.
Penny’s quintet’s debut album ‘Journey’ was released in December 2013, and was shortlisted for best Australian jazz vocal album at the 2014 Australian Jazz ‘Bell’ Awards. The album features both original compositions, and original arrangements of jazz and contemporary standards.
Penny is available in a variety of settings, from intimate duo through to a quintet for larger scale functions, with a range of repertoire to suit every event, audience and budget.
